Austin Athletic officials take the time out to hold a press conference taking the conference will be Ausin Chairman David Francis Austin Manager Richard Petre and Austin Athletic club captain Christian Wreh.
David Francis: Could i start off by welcoming you all to my club and thank you from us all for taking time to interview us.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 1: It is amazing how you have the general public believing in how you will win the championship but how do you convince the media of your certain success And that question goes to Richard.[/glow]
Richard Petre: Well thats a very good question we believe in ourselves and our own ability's and we think thats what has persuaded the public to believe in us, i think that the media will have to make there own mind up we have already proved were the best by beating our local rivals Seaham and Murton so i hope the people of the media will have the seance to realizes we are no pushover.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 2: We believe in giving every team an equal amount of praises weather on or off the pitch in this case everything seems well on the pitch the teams are getting the right results but what about in the bored room will you be suppling your manager with the money that will help him keep his optimism alive an how much will you be giving him if so that question goes to David.[/glow]
I have faith in my manager otherwise i would not have hired him i realize the responsibility i have to support this club with money to keep it a well respected club and to back up my managers words but me and Richy have had words in my meetings about funds and we have came to an equal conclusion that we will not be splashing out on players this season the manager has told me he thinks he has a team to win the league and bringing in any more players will upset the balance. I have given him extra funds for wages and he knows if he decides to use it that there is money for transfers but that is up to my manager. I do not wish to discuss the clubs funds with you because that would be completely out of character and i have no more to say on that matter.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 3: So Christian do the players share the same optimism as everyone else does?[/glow]
They certainly do everyone's very eager and excited to get the season started and have asked the gaffer about the team he is going to pick and if there training right but we know we know not to get carried away we beat two quality sides in pre season and hopefully that will spur us on to succeed and to win. I really feel this season will be good for us as David said we have a great squad a lot of them are young lads and we have as much chance as Seaham or Murton to win the league.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 3: So Christian how Happy are you with your own performance and what would you say to other young lads trying to break into football?
[/glow]
I am more than happy with my own performance i give 100% every match and train hard to witch is all i can do really. All i would say to young kids these days trying to get into the game would be to try hard and never give up because thats what people told me when i was trying to get there sometimes it can be frustrating but you have to push yourself until you make it, I say good luck to them.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 2: Richard, Do you have any plans for the future as you know your contract runs out in three seasons do you have any desires to join another club theres rumors going around that there are other clubs interested in your services.[/glow]
I can tell you this now there will be no chance of me leaving this club unless David decides he no longer needs me as manager i love this club i was brought up in this area of Seaham and i love my team it has been a long fought struggle putting this team together but i have finally done it so no theres not a chance. And yes it is true that other clubs have approched me about a possible switch to there club but i swiftly turned them down.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 1: Is it true that you are wanting to extend your stadium from 70,000 to 80,000? And that question is to Richard. [/glow]
Yes we are looking at a possible extension to add onto the north east corner and onto the main stand the reason we have had to look at this extension is because of the fans we have had to turn at least 10,000 fans down due to having a full house and we feel it is time to extend our stadium.
[glow=red,2,300]Reporter 1: Well thank you for taking time to answer our questions and good luck in your league campaign goodbye.[/glow]
David Francis: Thank you for coming and goodbye.
